EDUCATION

IIT Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology or IIT/ID, an alma mater, was founded by László Moholy-Nagy as The New Bauhaus in 1937.  László Moholy-Nagy was a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts. The original Bauhaus school was founded in Germany in 1919 by the architect Walter Gropius.

When the Bauhaus Movement celebrated its 100th year of influence on modern and contemporary architecture, design and art with numerous exhibitions worldwide, many of those exhibitions — and the educational opportunities associated with them — were closed to the public because of the 2019-21 COVID-19 pandemic.

With the help of designers and builders of 3D objects for virtual environments, I curated and constructed a 65,000 square meter virtual Bauhaus exhibition in the VR platform Second Life. Called ‘Bauhaus Park’, the exhibition featured 3D recreations of the famous Fallingwater House, the Farnsworth House, a partial recreation of the infamous Dessau Bauhaus school, a night club [where Stalign performs], amusement park rides and other attractions.
